When
Alan first started painting, 10 years ago, he started
using watercolours but quickly changed to oil paints.
He finds the colours and blends of colours work better
for him. |

Walter
moved to St Andrews from the west coast of Scotland
in 2006. He became fascinated by the picturesque coastal

after a gap of many years and the paintings on display
are the result. |

Jackie
generally paints with watercolours, enjoying their subtlety
and pastels loving the vibrancy (and the messy fingers!).
Jackie's style depends very much on the subject matter
and the medium. Watercolour portraits have tended to
be fairly representational whereas their pastel equivalent
a little more impressionistic. |

Paul
is a photographer specializing in traditional large
format black and white photography. Paul's work is based

When
painting portraits David tries to create a striking
unique image of the sitter both physically and psychologically.
Trying to capture human emotion frozen in time. He also
produces contemporary almost dream-like images from
experiences and references. David generally works from
photographs as he feels this is a good way to instantly
capture the sitters emotion. |

that are bursting with life and energy. |

Patricia
was born in Maidstone, Kent in 1953 and now lives and
works on the Essex/Hertfordshire border. Self taught
with advice from her father who is an artist in Cornwall,
Patricia totally looses herself in her paintings and
is amazed how the time flies by so fast. Patricia mainly
paints using oil although occassionally she uses watercolours.
She especially likes the 'wet on wet' technique using
these mediums. |

|
Sue's
work is inspired by just about anything and everything.
She paints in both representational and abstract styles.
Sue loves abstract painting because it frees the imagination
of both the artist and the spectator. In her semi-abstract/
representational work she explores symbolism. |

festival where it was highly commended, he was invited
to become a full member of the British Watercolour Society
in 2004 and at the summer exhibition 2005 was elected
to of Fellow of the International Guild of Artists.
This he regards as a great achievement as you are elected
by your fellow artists on the quality of your paintings.

Julian
is an amateur artist who has always painted sporadically,
however, when he retired some years ago he took up painting
more seriously. Inspired by the American artist Georgia
O’Keefe, Julian painted flowers, helped perhaps
by the fact that he had a garden full of them! |

Clive usually works with acrylic paints on box canvas,
but sometimes likes to experiment with different media.
Clive has always been influenced by the Abstract Expressionist
brigade of the 50's, so his paintings tend to be 'about'
something rather than 'of ' something.

Self
taught apart from a few correspondence and residential
courses, Lesley has been painting as an absorbing pastime
for 16 years. Over this time Lesley has developed an
interest in botanical painting and animal studies, particularly
horses, for which she will happily take commissions. |

Anne
is a 'Sunday painter' without formal training who enjoys
painting tremendously. Anne would have used my artistic
abilities much more but for the restrictions of available
funds. Most of her work is on the walls of family and
friends. Now she would like to widen her horizons. |

After
leaving university with a degree in illustration, nearly
a decade ago Simons work has become more abstract which
he feels allows him great freedom in his work. Simon
begins his work with no preconceived ideas of what he
is going to paint, this results in work that is spontaneous,
organic and totally original. |
