For the past 9 years I have worked
in my large purpose built studio in the heart of Bristol.
The walls are covered with paintings, strips of colour,
photos and drawings.
My work is predominantly landscape although the figure
has always been important to me. I have exclusively
worked with oil paint. However, during the past five
years I have also experimented with acrylics. I build
up multi-layers of transluscent colour on fine watercolour
paper. A process one cannot do with oil paint. This
then becomes the basis for the abstract series of
work. I use the word abstract with caution as most
of the acrylic works are inspired by the sensation
of memory of specific places. The landscapes of Pembrokeshire,
Northern Spain, Majorca and Corsica are a continual
inspiration. Water, in the form of seas, lakes and
streams are often the initial motivation for a painting.
I frequently exhibit in the South West particularly
in Bath and Bristol and have also shown my work in
Germany and Amsterdam.
Other abstract work can also be viewed on my website.
