My name is Chris Crellin and I was
born in 1977. As I grew up I became interested in
all things creative and took a keen interest in drawing.
I took art at school and that’s where I found
my love for oils. My life took me a different way
so I never pursued my art further, although I did
continue to paint on and off. Life flew past - got
married, had kids and I am now a full time Home dad.
I suddenly found myself in need of a hobby and fast
before insanity took over! So I read as much as possible
and started painting again.
I needed a subject, and the passion
my mum shared for her garden rubbed off on me and
gave me the inspiration I needed. My work is very
bold and textural. I like people to be able to use
more than just one sense to enjoy art - touch plays
a huge part in how we see things.
I use palette knives to create my
art and only use a brush for the acrylic priming of
backgrounds to the desired colour and for under painting
in large areas before I go to work with the knives.
I often do a painting then get comments
like “I like the composition but the colour
would not suit my décor - can I have it in
these colours?” I do a lot like that, so if
you like something you see but would rather have a
different coloured background or flower etc. then
email
and I will see what I can do.
