I
grew up in the 50's/60's...in Northern England... just
so you know where I'm coming from...
I usually work with acrylic paints on box canvas...but
sometimes like to experiment with different media...
I've always been influenced by the Abstract Expressionist
brigade of the 50's...so my paintings tend to be 'about'
something rather than 'of ' something...
I also like to do what I call 'acrylic doodles'...which
tend to have animals and Mother nature as the subject...
I'm interested in the separation of strong solid
colours...
Bold vivid colouring and a refusal to use a paint
brush are a couple of the boundaries that I like to
work to...
I use quality 1 1/2" deep box canvases with
no nails or staples on show... and I paint the edges
so avoiding the need for frames...
I think frames imprison the artwork...so mine come
without shackles...
