I grew up in the 50's/60's...in Northern England...
I work with acrylic paints on box canvas…
I started painting when I was 47 in 1999 after many years working in a family business…I’m self taught…or better to call it a natural ability…
When I left school at 15 the only thing I wanted to do of my own volition was to go to Art College…I thought that would be great…The only course at the college that sounded interesting to me was the textile and interior design one…In the end, because of the family business, I was never able to go to Art College…and when I look back now maybe it was for the best…
My work at the moment uses African animals in the designs…Designs being an appropriate word because they look more like textile designs or industrial images…I like the order and balance that design can bring to a painting…
I use acrylic paints on box canvas…I paint round the edges so you can hang them straight out of the box…no frames required…
