My home is now in Bolton. I have
an art educational background starting at The Manchester
High School of Art. Later I attended North Manchester
College where I concentrated on art and photography
and finally at Manchester University for a 2 year
Diploma in visual and literary aesthetics. I spent
a few years in design and a short period of time in
a photographic reproduction house. I have recently
returned to producing art and I am painting and selling
my work on a part time basis at present.
I still work the way I was taught at college, with
an ideas book which contains scribbles, scraps and
photographs from anywhere that I find inspiration
and interest.
My inspiration comes from life and travel, the latter
being quite frequent and worldwide. My best friend
is my camera which I use to record images and pictures
for my work.
I would divide my work into two themes. The first
as purely artwork and the second, generally abstract,
as design in terms of interior furnishings and as
such I respond and change to current trends and styles.
I believe that when you hang a piece of artwork in
your home or place of work that it is indicative of
you and a reflection of the general interior design
of your surroundings.
The paintings are produced in acrylics with some
mixed media for texture and depth. Most canvasses
are deep edge canvas and some are original style.
In nearly all cases I paint around the sides for a
3D effect. I use acrylic paint on box canvas finished
with gloss varnish for protection and to accentuate
the colour. The paintings are ready to hang.
For the forthcoming year I have, at present, one
exhibition planned at The Octagon Theatre in Bolton
but hope to plan more in the coming months.
I am happy to accept commissions but request a fairly
specific brief and small deposit. Email
for more information.
