Art being
one of the 2 subjects I had any aptitude for at school,
I studied it to A Level. Math’s being the other,
I took a HND in Electronics and Communications Engineering
from where I moved into the world of database and program
design.
Having spent a few(!) years in computing, the urge
to paint has returned with a vengeance and, with my
children now in their teens, I have been able to find
the time to return to something I enjoy.
My paintings tend to be portraiture or figurative in
content so I am happy to paint to commission. I have
also developed an enjoyment of floral subjects plus
would like to explore the area of still life.
I generally paint with watercolours and pastels but
am expanding my skill in oils, having always admired
the portraits of the old masters.
My style depends very much on the subject matter and
the medium. Watercolour portraits have tended to be
fairly representational whereas their pastel equivalent
a little more impressionistic. When painting flowers
in watercolour I try to keep the treatment gentle, but
if using pastels I might go for more impact.
A lot of my pictures shown here will be examples, displayed
to give you an idea of my style should you wish to commission
a portrait. Contact me with your preferred style and
medium as a starting point to discuss your requirements.
Finally I would like to say thanks to my husband and
children who are a continual support and encouragement
to me and have provided me with endless inspiration
in the form of portrait subjects plus garden delights
to paint. My ultimate thanks, though, goes to Him in
whose creative image I was made.
