Lita was born and educated in Bolton and when she
finished school attended a foundation course at Bolton
College of Art and Design. Here she was encouraged
to go on to do a degree in Fine Art by her course
tutors but circumstances at the time were not conducive
to this and art was put on a back burner for about
15 years.
Then in the early nineties, due mainly to her partner’s
encouragement, she put paint to canvas again and started
to experiment with different media in a more contemporary
style. Friends and work colleagues expressed such
an interest in her paintings that she decided to dedicate
more of her time to creative pursuits, and has since
had exhibitions and private showings and sold many
pieces.
Lita’s styles can be very diverse, but she
always strives to attain a visual balance in her work,
with a sense of depth and perspective. Her inspirations
can be as varied as her paintings, but she finds urban
and city landscapes particularly influential, along
with a love of plants and flowers. The techniques
that Lita employs differ according to the style and
subject she is painting but colour and texture are
always important and she particularly enjoys experimenting
with these elements.
