Louise Halliday
I started painting about seven years ago and gradually it became obvious that flowers were my main source of inspiration, and as my interest deepened I decided to do a diploma in botanical illustration which I completed with a distinction from the London Art College in 2007. During this course I was introduced to pen and ink, a medium which I found suited my detailed style. Last year I exhibited at the Society of Botanical Artists Annual Exhibition in London, and in August was accepted by the Royal Horticultural Society to exhibit at their shows due to the quality of my pen and ink illustrations. While my love of flowers still remains I now find inspiration from other sources including old buildings, landmarks and scenes which have allowed me to incorporate my eye for detail with the fondness and appreciation I feel for the architectural gems of the past.
