I am a practicing Artist with fifteen years professional
involvement in exhibiting, lecturing and giving seminars
to Art groups.
My intentions were to work within an area that exists
between Fine Art and Design, in the context of consumerism.
My focus of attention lay in Mondrian who limited
himself mainly to the three primary colours and whose
work could be thought of as modularized. Elements
in the concept of the modular and its numerous permeations
interested me. Modular design led me to consider the
design concept of Ikea, which informs a distinct style.
I was interested in producing work that could be
read as both figurative and abstract, that could be
assembled rather like a kitchen unit from Ikea. My
intentions are for my work to raise questions about
the social role of Art and its functionality.
I was shortlisted for the Celeste Art Prize 2006.
