As a mature student I completed my art degree in 2005 and have since had paintings accepted in national and local exhibitions.
As a practicing artist living in the south, my work is an engagement with paint and mixed media. My work involves both representative and abstract compositions, and occasionally I find that the two overlap.
I am greatly influenced and inspired by nature and the human condition. The paintings exhibited in the gallery are an eclectic group of domesticated animals, landscape vistas, and textured abstracts. Much of my work is derived from photographs and memories of a particular scene or animal.
Drawing is uppermost in my disciplines and forms a large component of my output. Charcoal is a particular favourite medium to which I often return. I run a life group and find that drawing is one of the most important element of my work.
Printmaking using photopolymer plates, lino cuts and traditional etching plates represents another area of art that I am very interested in and currently hope to pursue this further.
