I studied art and design for many years and have a HND in design and illustration. I tend to work more with traditional media ie. Acrylics, gouache, pen and ink. However I can also work digitally to produce a style which I can only describe as 'mine'.
My main influences cover a vast range, including impressionism, expressionism, pop art, gothic and modern art. I draw my inspiration from a variety of artists such as: Da Vinci, Bosch, Warhol, Turner, Kumt, but also have a keen interest in more contemporary sources like comics, editorial illustrations, cartoons, film and television etc. Artists such as Dave McKean, Ashley Wood, Brian Templesmith, Sam Keith, Studio Ronin, Broom, Joe Chiodo and David Mack are prime examples of this.
I tend to work mainly with Gouache or Acrylics, though I often experiment with many different mediums: collage, digital manipulation, photo-montage, some textiles, print, experimental sculpture and more recently oils and alkyds.
I also have an appreciation for a wide variety of music, from classical to heavy metal. I can play a variety of musical instruments, in particular drums and percussion.
I can work to commission, and it is safe to say that thus far I have always produced commissioned work to a more than satisfactory standard. I like to produce 'original' artwork, but without breaking the bank.
